Glasgow Art Club
MAST were appointed by The Glasgow Art Club to carry out a study of the property at 185 Bath Street including structural and services, access audit, examination of statutory requirements, repair survey, conservation assessment and preparation of budget costs which would establish priorities relating to the building for the future of the Club.
The Glasgow Art Club is an A Listed Building and was created by the amalgamation of two adjacent houses, in 1893, to the designs by the architect John Keppie, who transformed the ground floor to create a series of interlinked function rooms. The Gallery to the rear of the building was designed by a young Charles Rennie Mackintosh.
The study team, working with the client identified a scheme of urgent repairs that have now been addressed in an initial phase of works. (Completed October 2007).
The proposed second phase includes a major refurbishment of the Gallery.
