Barn Conversion, Kittochside, Glasgow
The project, on the outskirts of Glasgow, was completed in 2001 for an interior design client.
The client’s brief was for a modern insertion into the envelope of the external stone walls and this was the starting point for the design of the interior of the building.
A double height, top lit void, separates the new from the old, with a glazed bridge across, bringing sunlight deep into the building. The dining room is an intimate oval alcove while, in contrast, the living space above spreads itself out across the upper floor.
The conversion of the barn at Kittochside was featured in Caledonia, Scotland’s interior design magazine.
