The 3 and 4 storey development at Green Street / Stevenson Street for Thenew H.A consists of 14 no. flats for people with physical and learning disabilities.

The building is on a tight corner site immediately next door to the client’s offices. The design has its origins in the HAG competitions promoted by Glasgow as City of Architecture and is seen as a prototype of completely accessible housing in the future, built in a sustainable manner.

The two closes contain lifts to all floors ensuring barrier free access throughout, while each close also contains a ground floor dedicated fully accessible flat for wheelchair users, and carer or warden stop-over flat. The flats in the four storey close provided for the Mungo Foundation have a pull cord alarm system linked to the carer’s flat.

The development comprises breathing wall timber frame construction with traditionally constructed closes, integrated sunspaces, rainscreen cladding and high SAP ratings.
