Haldane Regeneration, Dumbarton

MAST were appointed architects for the team working on the regeneration of the Mill of Haldane in Balloch.

Cube and Dunbritton Housing Association’s are in partnership with Cruden and the design team to complete approximately 200 houses on 10 sites together with a replacement women’s Hostel and a 50 house development for sale by Cruden Estates Ltd.

There is a strong local input via a series of forums, looking at strategy, housing, environmental matters and other facilities.

The majority of houses are for families of varying size with some special needs properties on the more accessible sites.

The women’s Hostel comprises 10 flats for women and their children with secure single point of access to communal areas, counselling and children’s play facilities. The building wraps around a courtyard to provide a sheltered and peaceful external sitting area, with children’s outdoor play spaces located separately.

MAST have been recently appointed to develop the earlier master plan for the area to include a number of new housing sites involving a rolling programme of decant, demolition and new build. This process will be undertaken in close consultation with the local community through a series of open days.
