Clyde Valley Regeneration
MAST has worked with Clyde Valley Housing Association for a number of years while sharing their aim of achieving the best possible homes and services for their tenants in Lanarkshire.
Laighstonehall New Build
In 2002 MAST were selected by Clyde Valley Housing Association to carry out the Feasibility Study, together with A J Balfour, Consulting Engineers and J R Queenan Partnership, Quantity Surveyors.
The existing Orlit houses in Ewart Crescent, Ewart Terrace, and Highstonehall Road, Laighstonehall were Scottish Homes stock and at the time the subject of a potential stock transfer to Clyde Valley Housing Association Ltd.
Following an in depth study of 60 houses, concrete framed properties, built in the early 1950’s and principally semi-detached, terraced and 4 in a block flats, were found to have reached the end of their practical life and were unsuitable for further rehabilitation.
All original houses were demolished to make way for a new build development comprising 75 dwellings.
Langside Avenue
This development for the tenants of Langside Avenue and Clyde Valley Housing Association involved the demolition of existing Athol houses and replacement with 96 new build houses over two phases on both green and brown field sites. All phases were completed in January 2006.
From the outset resident participation was considered to be paramount to the success of the development, with tenants meetings held on a regular basis to allow updates and involvement in key decisions. Design features include breathing wall technology using pre-insulated timber frame closed panel and floor cassette construction, passive stack ventilation, low-e insulating double glazed windows, barrier free access and Secured by Design standards. The Contractor was Cruden Building & Renewals Ltd. (CBRL)
MAST is also working with Clyde Valley Housing Association, McTaggart Construction and CBRL to construct new building housing at Burnbank and Westwood Crescent in Hamilton and Viewpark in Uddingston.
