Planning / Feasibility Studies
The planning and feasibility study work grew out of the practice’s work in the outer estates of Glasgow where it soon became clear that there were significant infrastructure issues to be addressed prior to committing major funding to areas of housing.
Housing and planning studies have taken place in Renton, in the Vale of Leven, Blairtummock in Easterhouse, Whinhill in Greenock and the Haldane in Balloch, among others, and in all cases the final layout and development strategy have formed the basis of multi million pound investment in the areas, over many phases of housing and other works.
Central to the studies has been the full participation of the residents in the planning process. This requires considerable commitment in time to allow residents to gain a clear understanding of the key issues and to provide the necessary direction. Experience suggests that detailed knowledge of the area, development of options, and a process orientated approach generally are key ingredients in a successful planning study.
