Area Planning Study, Cordale, Renton

The main objective of the Feasibility Study for Cordale Housing Association was to produce a comprehensive area-wide analysis of the problems and possible solutions for existing housing, roads, backcourts and gardens, including the 20 acres of vacant ground between Main Street and the River Leven.

Eight alternative land use proposals were prepared and the Committee’s preferred option developed to arrive at the recommended area plan. This took into account differing design solutions for street frontage, cul de sac and park edge housing, and laid down the broad principles for development over the next ten years. This provided the framework for the implementation of the first and subsequent phases of development by the Association.

MAST were also appointed by Cordale Housing Association to carry out a study to assess the feasibility of developing new build offices, retail, pharmacy and integrated health living centre within the Main Street of Renton.
